~ Learn the history of the Cyanotype process, how to mix the necessary chemicals, coating methods on both paper and fabric and how to expose and process your images.
~ Experiment with wet cyanotype techniques as well as toning images and learning how to make your own negatives to print from.
~ Create around 10 different art works on a variety of papers and fabrics, including your own apron.
It’s a hands on workshop so old clothes and an apron are a good idea and enclosed shoes are essential

Sally Mayman continues to enjoy a life long passion for photography, working as an artist, commercial photographer and educator. Her work explores the emotional, spiritual and physical connections we have with our environment and how these are intimately woven with our sense of belonging.
Through workshops Sally loves sharing her knowledge and skills with students throughout Australia, she is the Artist in Residence at Barrenjoey High School and Youth Off The Streets and currently mentors teenagers living with anxiety and depression.
Having studied under the masters of photographic alternative processes in London, Sally has been experimenting with many traditional techniques for over 30 years.
With painter Dale Kentwell their body of work, “Saltwater Country” was bought by the State Library of Western Australia in 2015. The book Seeing Saltwater Country was released in September 2017.
She has recently completed a Master of Art degree at UNSW Art and Design and has been a finalist multiple times in the Ravenswood Womens Art Prize, the Northern Beaches Art Prize, The Head On Photographic Prize and The Moran Photographic Prize.
Soliphilia is the solidarity needed between all people to take responsibility for the protection of loved places as well as returning damaged environments back to places that create solace ( Albrecht 2020)

Cyanotype is a traditional photographic process using a solution of iron compounds and UV light to produce beautiful Prussian Blue images.
There are many techniques and possible outcomes and as this process is highly experimental there are also wonderful happy accidents.
During the workshop we will draw inspiration from the surrounding bushland creating unique images on various papers and fabrics, including your very own apron.
We will cover mixing chemistry, coating paper and fabrics, wet and dry cyanotype techniques, toning and creating your own negatives.
The workshop is suitable for anyone with a sense of creative adventure from beginners to experienced artists.
